Bringing mobile lung screening to you.
Lung Health Check is Canada’s first mobile lung screening program, bringing diagnostic services to rural, remote and Indigenous communities in Alberta.
In many areas, long travel times to a diagnostic centre can delay finding and treating lung conditions.
Lung Health Check makes early detection easier, helping people get diagnosed sooner for better health outcomes.
This program is funded by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Cancer Foundation and AstraZeneca, coordinated by Praxus Health and delivered by Aceso Medical.

Should I get my lungs checked?
Your lungs work hard for you every day, but when was the last time you checked in on them?
If you or a loved one experiences lingering cough, shortness of breath, chest tightness or wheezing, it could be a sign of an underlying lung condition.

Meet the fleet.
Lung Health Check includes a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) van and Low-dose Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan truck. These mobile units will be staffed with qualified nurses, CT technicians and respiratory therapists.
Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) van
A PFT is a set of simple breathing tests that check how well your lungs work.
It measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, how fast you can breathe out and how well your lungs deliver oxygen to your blood.
The most common test—spirometry—involves blowing into a tube to assess lung capacity and airflow.
Launching spring 2025.
Low-dose Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan truck
A low-dose chest CT scan is a type of x-ray that takes detailed images of your lungs to look for changes. The scan takes a few minutes and does not require an injection or dye.
It helps detect lung diseases—including early-stage lung cancer—before symptoms appear.

A low-dose chest CT scan uses a small amount of radiation—typically about the same as what you’d be exposed to from a cross-country flight.
Modern CT scanners are designed to use the lowest possible dose of radiation, while providing clear images, making them a safe and effective tool for monitoring lung health.
-
The CT scan truck will be wheelchair accessible.
The PFT van does not offer wheelchair access, due to the size of the van.
